Sherab Salve Melong Primary School

Khen Rinpoche Tsering Dorjee, chairman of the Dzang Dhog Palri Educare and Culture Welfare Society, understands that without access to quality education, the future of young people in these remote areas will remain bleak. He believes that meaningful progress can only be achieved through the spread of knowledge to all layers of society. With this belief in mind, he founded Sherab Salve Melong Primary School in 2023 at Silapathar, Phul Bari No. 1. The school started with an enrollment of nearly 70-80 students, guided by a team of four teachers and supported by a registered nurse.

The goal of the school is to cultivate the inherent potential and goodness of each child by awakening their intelligence and fostering wisdom and compassion. It seeks to liberate them from ignorance and guide them toward a holistic and fulfilling life. To support this, the school provides free education, meals, clothing, shelter, and healthcare to underprivileged children from Silapathar and nearby communities.

Sherab Salve Melong Primary School offers a unique curriculum that combines traditional teachings, such as Tibetan literature, prayer, and rituals, with modern secular subjects. Currently, the school serves around 70-80 students, including girls, ensuring a supportive environment for both learning and living. The school is equipped with standard classrooms, dormitories, a library, an auditorium, a playground, and essential healthcare facilities.

After completing their primary education (Grades 1–5), students have the opportunity to continue their studies at the NGESANG DHONGAG JANGCHUB DARGYELING SHEDRA in Tuting for advanced scriptural learning.
