Library

Today we live in an era of unprecedented free flow of information and knowledge. We carry tremendous amount of information in our pockets and yet we live in deprivation of meaningful and beneficial source of true knowledge. We need to be very judicious and selective in assimilating informations. We must try to read and assimilate informations which bring satisfaction and adds value to our lives. In this regard, the Buddhist canons and texts are very rich and diverse in their contained, which encompassed all spheres of human development. They are precious intellectual marvels that are inextricably linked to the intellectual, scientific, technological, cultural and spiritual development of our great civilization. Library being the repository of priceless knowledge and information is an indispensable asset and tools for learning and preservation of knowledge.

Pema Mani Charitable Trust owns and runs a full-fledged library containing thousands of rare books and scriptures printed on special request by our chairman. Library is still on the process of collecting books and texts for its library. Since, these texts are very large in volumes and they are not easily available in the market, it is taking considerable time to collect and print.

Educational Outreach Programs

The tribal society of Tuting area being 100% agrarian society, almost all the eligible (specially female) members of the family go to work in the field during the day which deprive them of getting education during the day from school or any other institution of learning.  So, PEMA MANI CHARITABLE SOCIETY has chalk out a plan to send monk teachers from the Monastery to all the nearby villages in the night from 7.00 p.m to 8.30 p.m to teach Boti / Tibetan language. This initiative though a recent phenomena has got tremendous responses from the villagers. The villages like Lali Basti,

Pekong Basti, Bihari Line, P.I. Line and ALC Line has 100% attendance. This program not only has taught women of the villages how to read and write, but it also has given the women folk of the society a sense of pride and dignity. So far this program has benefitted more than thousand women of the Tuting Sub-division.

We focus on teaching local Boti language, as it is the main language in which all our religious and philosophical texts are written. We are on the verge of achieving 100% literacy rate in this field.  Our hard work and endeavor has benefited many lay villagers. They can now read and understand prayer books and religious texts. They can now take part in the performing of religious rites and rituals according to their customs. The knowledge and understanding of their own language in written forms has given them immense power over the functioning of the daily day-to-day activities. It has also encouraged the lay and women folks to take greater and better part in religious functions of the society.
